Soundscapes
I enjoy the art and science of developing immersive stories using sound! Cinematic sound is one thing I strive to create by utilizing my own editing and mixing techniques on SFX I own/find/record, experimenting with different ways to design a certain idea/feeling through my work.
I designed this tonal soundscape using MIDI for the choir and layering SFX found in my extensive library. The meaning is completely up to interpretation considering I create my soundscapes on a whim.
"Staircase of Madness" is my first attempt at contemporary sound art using SFX. I have worked with SFX a lot and have grasped a strong creative knowledge along with a willingness to experiment and explore the value of SFX. Sound is unique and everything, every object has its own unique sound texture able to transition smoothly into another.
This soundscape is the first one I designed using random recordings of objects, a cat, the sound from a SCAD class, and my trumpet. I utilize experimental audio signal processing techniques to produce a sonic texture of almost unrecognizable sounds.
This meticulously crafted soundscape is an homage to the dynamic ambiance of J.F.K. International Airport, capturing the energetic interplay of vehicular and pedestrian activity. Infused with the essence of Broadway Musicals, their melodic cadence seamlessly intertwines with a rich tapestry of diverse musical elements and authentic environmental sounds, creating a multi-dimensional auditory experience.
